As a new mom, finding time to fit in simple things like a daily shower is essential. I’ve always been a morning shower person, but these days I don’t want to wake the baby. Even despite my tip toeing, my daughter would hear the shower and wake up. So, there goes my shower time! Recently, I changed to night showers and I started to wonder if there are benefits to showering at night. Yes, there are:
The Cool Down
During your shower, your body temperature rises from the water and when the water evaporates you naturally cool down. That rapid cooldown is the biggest reason why a shower at night can help you sleep.
Decreases Stress
I’ve found taking a warm shower or bath at night can help me fall asleep faster.
Showers help you relax, both physically and emotionally. Your body always feels better after a warm bath or shower. When you’re less stressed, it’s easier to sleep.
Forces you to Disconnect
For me, showers force me to disconnect. When you’re showering you can’t be watching Netflix, checking social media or emails on your phone. The few minutes your mind has to unplug from your go-go-go daytime mode helps you to fall asleep faster when your head finally hits the pillow.
Feel clean, sleep clean
A night shower allows you to go to bed fresh and clean without bringing the muck and germs of the day to your bed. When you get into bed clean, you’ll not only feel less stressed out, but you’ll also avoid bringing any dirt, oils, or allergens into the bed with you. This is good for the health of your skin, sheets and mattress.
Try switching it up if you’re a morning shower person. You’ll thank me if you’ve had a long day, your mind is still racing, or your feeling stressed about your morning routine. Get some rest, you deserve it! :)

Just a tip: Add eucalyptus to your shower. Eucalyptus relieves sinus congestion and headaches. Also, the smell just gives you a sense of peace.
